I just got a call from the FTC in San Francisco California regarding a complaint I filed against American Agencies. They are taking copies of all documentation regarding this company and violations. He said, "The BBB sent over the information/complaints regarding this company and there was so much it was on discs instead of just a file"
Evidently, they are going to take action, although I'm sure it won't be fast as it takes the government awhile to do things.
As long as the end result is something is done regarding this company, I'll wait!

I have recent correspondance from American Agencies that is in violation. Would your FTC contact like copies of it to add fuel to the fire?

I would love to help nail them!

I am sure that they would. I was at work when he called so I did not have all of my dates. I am calling him tomorrow and will get the mailing address and a name of where to send it. I'll post it ASAP.
    Thank you!

I am also having extreme problems with American Agencies. Would like that San Francisco address for the FTC so I can file a complaint too.

It seems to be a recurring problem with them. I recieved notice from them that they recieved my validation request and are contacting the OC for info. I was surprised I recieved that based on others dealings with them.

Hey there, 95207Chick! That is amazing! I've sent 2 DVR's since July, and no written response to date. Found a website called Credit Court where a woman is documenting her suit against American Agencies, and you should see the BBB report on these jokers. They are known for being underhanded bullies, so be careful to document everything. Good luck dealing with them!

Do you have a direct link to what site you are looking at for that info?
I want to know where their weakness is.

Theres a link at the beginning of this thread that should get you there. It's being really slow loading up today, but basically, it says that Amer. Agencies has been in business since like 1965, and most widely known for refusing to validate debts, reporting wrong information, and refusing to correct wrong information. If you can't get that link to work, try this BBB home site to get a report on Amer. Agencies.

I have also received this notice from them -- IN JUNE!! I think this is a clever way they've devised to be able to keep it on your report "in dispute" while they make no actual effort to provide validation. I have no expectation of ever receiving it!

Luckily, under California law they have to resolve the dispute within 90 days.

I am planning on filing suit. Interestingly, their corporate status is currently suspended. As such, they cannot defend themselves in court.

I finally quit playing phone tag with the man from the FTC. Here's the scoop -
If you have had problems with American Agencies, go online to the FTC website and file a complaint. They will be contacting anyone who files with this company. They will take a statement/declaration over the phone, type it up, mail it to you and ask that you return it with copies of any and all correspondence with American Agencies.
American Agencies is not a small mom & pop company, so the more violations, the better the chance at something being done.
