    Hi everyone.

I just saw this on CNN and if you are like me, you hate those telephone calls from unwanted telemarketing.

Here is a link where the FTC is propoding legislation to fine telemarketing who violate the legislation, up to 11K per violation.

    http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/edcams/donotcall/index.htm

    Good Luck

    Any opinions on this?

They even give you the option of sending them an email addressing your concerns.

...AND THEY USE MULT-LINE AUTO-DIALERS...AND IF THEY EVER ANSWER...IT'S AFTER YOU SAY "HELLO" 5 TIMES...

I just signed up for Privacy Manager with my local phone service. Anyone, and I mean ANYONE who blocks their number, whether it is "private", "unavailable", "out of area", or anything that does not disclose the full information about the caller gets routed through a service where they must identify themselves, then my phone rings, and an automated operator tells me who is calling, and I have the option of accepting the call, or disconnecting them. If the caller decides not to identify themselves, the system automatically disconnects them before it even rings in my house.

I've had it for approx. 1 week. I used to get 2-5 "out of area" type calls a day. I'd pick up, "hello?"........ "hello?".... "HELLO!"... 'click'

Now I get zero of these calls. Guess the telemarkters don't want to have to identify themselves before they get to talk to me.

Why do they call if they don't want to talk to you?

They're trying to find out if mindcrime knows the whereabouts of several of their little green postal workers who have recently escaped.............

I don't know where in the hell you come up with this bull shit when the post office is the one saying there is a plant in their operations.
It must take a real dumb ass to come up with the above post.

My "LOCAL" phone company said their computer calls, say 100 people at one time...say they have 90 people who answer...but only 45 employees (selling their GARBAGE)...so the computer HANGS UP ON 45 PEOPLE...

    Thats why it's HELLO~~~HELLO~~~HELLO~~~CLICK~~~DIAL TONE~~~~~~

Ah: George your reply to my Question makes sense.
Thanks for replying it's nice to hear from the sane for a change especially after the ignorant replies from the two loons.

Actually I knew this.It was a loaded question and there were 2 goons who fell for it.

You know what lbrown, you bring these posts on yourself with some of the off the wall, constant conspiracy theories you come up with. Everyone on this board knows exactly how you feel about the "process" so your constant input of the same nonsense, day after day, post after post, is what starts this. Think about it before you come back at me with something nonsensical.

Why do they call if they don't want to talk to you?
    ==================================
What is off the wall about the above question and how does it imply any kind of a conspiracy theory?

Yea, I'm sure they did. Feeling a little paranoid? Well you probably should. Maybe Doc could spend a little quality time with you, it might help.

I think LKH said it best. You know exactly what he's talking about and it has nothing to do with your question. It does however apply to the majority of your posts. And the one thing that he left out was your quantity of posts. Do you think you're going to win some award for 3500+ posts. When you spam a thread with 5 quotes in a row you do nothing more than cause the reader to skip your nonsense to get back to reading the post.

Maybe, you should think before you twitch uncontrollably towards the quote button.

    Now Pat.....

Please be nice to lbrown59. After all, apparently his thirteen other personalities aren't being very nice to him. If we aren't nice to him, who will be?

I'm sure he'll be much more civil when his medications' plasma levels reach equilibrium.

    Regards,

    Dancer

OK, boys and girls! Do I need to take off my belt??? Settle down, then.

Actually, sometimes the reason no one says anything (even after 10 HELLO's) is because they actually WANT your answering machine to pick up. I can't tell you how many times we've gotten those "personal" messages left just for Smitty! Ma' Bell even has a service that will allow you to completely block any unidentifiable caller altogether. When the OUT OF AREA aliens call, they simply get, "We're sorry... but the caller you have dialed is not accepting... yada yada yada." I'll have to check into it again, but I think it's one of those *-eighty-something codes or something.

    Smitty
Don't just do something... sit there.
