Spoke to a person at the FTC regarding Equifax's refusal to investigate inquiries. I was told that I can attempt to sue them for violating the FCRA, but my best bet would be to contact the company who made the inquiry and threaten them with a lawsuit. This is a never ending battle and a nonstop tidal wave of certified letters
I try disputing with the CRA first. I've had great luck except Equifax. The few that didn't come off with EX and TU I did a BBB report to the companies or contacted them via their website or PFB and stated the law to them. VOILA the inquiries were removed. I'm using a new approach with Equifax...The Consumer Affairs department.
It is VERY similar to the letter in this post. I made a few changes myself so they wouldn't realize it was the same letter. http://consumers.creditnet.com/straighttalk/board/showthread.php?s=&pgnum=1&postid=127310#post127310
