An important case for everyone who has ever received a gift card (not just from K-mart)...

    http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2007/03/kmart.htm

Consumers who received their cards, and went to use them found out that their cards were down more than $50 in dormancy fees; that weren't properly advertised. Despite disclosures on K-mart's web site which said that the gift cards NEVER expire.

Well, the dormancy fees are the best kept secret on most gift cards.

However, maybe just maybe, things will start to change NOW... :)
