I got a mailing a few days ago saying that since I was such a good customer they were going to give me another $1000 limit increase if I paid $99. I was so pissed since I believe I'm a "better" customer than tha, so I bitched via Planetfeedback and said that I believed I should get it without the fee, blah, blah, blah. How happy I was to see my limit raised $1100 yesterday. But today, I look at my balance online and lo and behold! I have been charged a $99 fee. I am fuming so badly right now. I just sent a nasty little note via customer contact asking them where in the hell do they have my signature authorizing that I am to be charged $99 for an increase (I threw the mailing in the garbage) and that they had better credit me my $99 immediately. Yeah, let's see what comes of this. Back to damn Plantfeedback. I HATE THEM!!!

You said they wanted to give you a $1000 increase for $99.

You said they gave you a $1100 increase for $99.

So really you did come out ahead if these figures are right.

You're missing my point...I never authorized them to do this. All I did was complain on Planetfeedback. I thought I got the line increase for free because of my complaint. They do not have my signature accepting this offer. This is illegal.

I was teasing her ;) I'd be pissed too. I found it amusing that Providian would do that, especially adding $100 to the increase. Makes me glad Providian denied me solely based on my age (22)

Oh sorry then...:( I'm just a little mad and am taking things too much to heart right now. I apologize.

Frankly, this doesn't sound like a deliberate attempt to piss anyone off. Instead, it looks like a bumbling, fumbling act of clear-cut incompetence. :)

Whoever processed the credit limit increase saw the $99 offer and clicked the wrong button. In a millisecond, they made an enemy. (And I'd be angry about it too, sister, so I don't blame you.)

Before going back to Planet Feedback, try calling their incompetent and inept customer service. Who knows -- you may get lucky. If that doesn't work, then I'd write a follow-up via PFB. This whole episode amounts to a complete waste of your time and is very irritating, but in the end I would bet you'll get the $99 charge reversed.

At least you got some kind of response from them via PFB--I complained almost 2 months ago and have heard nothing!

You know what I do cariba? I threaten to send my Planetfeedback letter everyday and then I follow through with my threat. It's no big deel to log-in at PFB and go to your letters and hit re-send. It's how I got my APR lowered and my annual fee waived. Just be persistent.

I just got a response from the online customer contact and they said that my fee would be credited (whew!), but get this...it won't show on my bill for as many as two billing cycles. So they still screwed me...
now I have to pay a finance charge on this balance. Oh well...guess it's better than nothing. Stupid idiots! If only I could get an AMEX and get rid of these people!

Actually, fingrrrl, they'll refund the finance charges as well. :)
