Got a letter addressed to my gf's dad from a CA. His house was destroyed last year so we had all the utilities shut off, paid the final accounts and moved him to a condo. He's elderly and is in no condition to manage his own finances...

First the collection letter has a big notice on the front: "To prevent incorrect delivery per USPS regulations check here: []" The letter has a return address of
ABC City Post Office Box 28
    ABC, PA zip

hmmmm so at first blush it might look like it's from the post office itself...next, the letter is addressed not to John Smith or Smith, John or anything...it's addressed to Smith Smith!!! ROFL

They are collecting for the cable company (which was paid) and they are making a "special payment offer" of only $18.72 to clear the file.

She wants to call and tell them to piss off but I was thinking this would be a goos chance to hone my validation letter writing skills and have some fun with them ;-) What do you think?

Just send me a check for $1,000.00 to avoid the EMBARRASSMENT of going to SMALL CLAIMS COURT when I file charges against you for FALSE DEBT COLLECTION.
