I just thought I would tell you guys (in case it was new, sorry if it's not) that I found on bankrate.com that Chase has a standard, gold, or platinum (your choose) card that has a variable 5.9% APR!!! It's not available on Chase's website, only through this number 800-413-5661. It has a $0 annual fee, and grace period of 22 days.

Check it out, I just got approved for it!!!

    Hope this helps!!!

    later . . .

Call retention and you can get 6.9 fixed they've been doing it for a few months.

I WOULD CALL, BUT SINCE I HAVE A BAD ACCOUNT...THEY "JACKED" ME TO 16.24%

I NEVER KNEW PAYING ON TIME, LIKE 2-5 DAYS AFTER THE STATEMENT IS PRINTED, COULD EVER BECOME A BAD ACCOUNT!!! I ALSO CAN'T UNDERSTAND HOW I COULD HAVE GOT THE 0.00% BT IF I HAVE SUCH A BAD ACCOUNT!!!

Be careful with Chase. You may get a card with a letter saying that upon further review of your credit report, you don't really qualify for the card you applied for. Here's a card with a lot lower CL and an interest rate over 20%.

They're also good at "jacking" the rate because they feel like it. Maybe you were a day late, maybe you charged too much (could this be your problem, GEORGE?). My friend's card was canceled because she carried a balance close to the max for too long. Why? Because she had a good rate!! Suddenly they canceled it, then (because it's closed) they raised the rate to about 23%.

A DAY LATE???? NOT IN 25+ YEARS!!! IMPOSSIBLE TO BE LATE WHEN YOU PAY 2-5 DAYS AFTER THE STATEMENT PRINTS??? AND I PAY ON-LINE...

    I haven't charged anything on CHASE...I have a 0.00% BT till 08/01/2003...

I didn't mean the day late, GEORGE. Sorry. I already knew you paid your bills on time or way early. I meant the part about maybe you spend too much as far as they're concerned, so they can't give you any more credit. It sure seems weird to me. I always thought the more you spent the more credit they gave you, but Chase doesn't always seem to work that way.

I forgot to add that I just call the regular customer service number for Citi. Ask them if there are any offers available for your account. They're very nice and helpful.

I didn't ask for a limit increase...they just "JACKED" me!!!

I have been paying OVER the min every month...some months 2 or 3 payments...EVEN AT 0.00%...I cared more about keeping a "PERFECT" account, than I did about the LOSS of 0.00% money vs. what I did pay on other cards...

I GUESS SINCE I NOW HAVE AN "UNSATISFACTORY" ACCOUNT WITH CHASE...I GUESS I WAS WRONG FOR PAYING WAY EARLY AND MORE THAN MIN!!!!!!

Chase is so hard to figure out. I've canceled everything I had with them except a line of credit, and I think I'm going to cancel it soon since it's paid off.

Yes, they just "jack" rates for no apparent reason. As I said, I think if you charge too much, use the card too much, don't charge enough, don't use the card enough. You get the idea--it really doesn't matter what you do. I think they just make up reasons as they go along. Maybe they decide they need a certain amount more income, then pick accounts at random.

That would be the UYGF, wouldn't it?

We have had a Chase card since 1984. Last year they raised our rate from 9.9% to 23%. We have never carried a balance but a fraudulent account showed up on my husband's CR. I have tried to get the rate reduced but so far no luck. I guess I will just quit using it. Any ideas on how to get it reduced?
