Hi all, I called Chase last night inquiring about credit requirements on their cards and thought I'd post this for people who might be interested as well. The minimum credit score for the classic card is 650. The minimum credit score for the gold card is 670. The rep told me that he had never seen an approval for either card if a score was in the 500's. The secured card has a minimum $300 deposit, to which your credit line is equal, the card does report to all 3 agencies as "secured" and it is eligible for unsecured status 18-24 months after the account is opened. The rep did not give me a minimum credit score cut-off, but told me that people would be denied a secured card if there was a BK or if there were any delinquencies of any kind in the past 12 months. FYI, Marci
RE: FYI... Chase score requir Thanks much, Marci, for sharing the info about Chase. It was very enlightening. As you may have seen from one of my earlier posts, the application I originally submitted was lost and I had to reapply last week. That means I'm in wait-and-see mode again. Boy! I sure hope Chase uses Transunion to get my credit info! I don't know what my score is there but it's definitely my best report. When I hear something, I'll be sure to post. Donna
RE: FYI... Chase score requir Thanks, John. I'm in Los Angeles and I'm sure hoping Chase will pull my report from Transunion. If they do, I think I have a reasonable shot at getting a card. Years ago I lived in Michigan. It's a beautiful state. Donna
I would sure appreciate it if let us know if Chase pulls Trans Union. I live in Orange County next door. Most lenders pull experian here. My best report is also TU.
RE: I would sure appreciate it Jim, Regardless of Chase's decision, I'll be sure to post. However, since you're in neighboring Orange County, you'll probably hear me shouting for joy if the answer is yes. It isn't so much that I want or need the credit...I really don't...but if Chase comes through, that's another step out of the sub prime basement. I'll ditch 1st Premier *immediately*! Donna
RE: I would sure appreciate it Thanks much, Mom. I'm almost afraid to know. I guess you would say I'm skeptically optimistic. If I can ever climb out of this awful sub prime basement, I'll be extremely grateful! Over the past year, my credit has improved a lot and a card from Chase would show major progress. Donna
RE: I would sure appreciate it have you tried citibank Donna .. I applied for both chase and citi , got a big denied by chase , and 9k from citi !, they both pulled TU and I live in orange county as well .
RE: FYI... Chase score requir Must have been using citi standards at the time LOL 650, I guess that is why I got declined back in July, buy hey I think my score is pretty close to that now. mom
