After applying for a their CITI account I received this letter: Dear XXXX XXXX: Thank you for your interest in obtaining a CITI AAdvantage MasterCard. We are unable to approve your application. Our records indicate that you already have the maximum number of Citibank and/or AT&T Universal Card accounts that we issue to an individual. AT&T Universal Card accounts are owned by Universal Bank N.A., a Citibank affiliate. We hope to have the opportunity to serve you in the future. Sincerely, K. Aberson Mgr., Consumer Credit Services I also received a call from the executive offices regarding a PFB letter and they also verified this with the exception being a business account. This news definitely conflicts with what their reps are telling me. I know several of you have more than two accounts with CITI so I am thinking maybe this is new policy.? I just thought I would let everyone know before they end up getting useless inquiries. -Om
i have had 3 accounts at one time. Gotta combine cards to get any more. In about 6 months when my BT ends, i'll combine all my cards to the platinum select, and apply for 2 AA's again.
Re: FYI...multiple CITI accounts... I remember you saying that you had three accounts Sam, as I'm sure many others do too. Like I said though, maybe it's a new policy not to issue more than two accounts now, I don't know. I've gotten mixed opinions on this from various departments but tend to have a little more faith in the letter and the statement from the executive office representative I spoke with yesterday. -Om
Re: FYI...multiple CITI accounts... maybe, the fact that we are rolling two new accounts so close, that this goes by their system? Applying for two cards at the same time has its advantages perhaps?
Re: FYI...multiple CITI accounts... This could be. The guy from the executive offices also told me that if they have pulled a recent report (within a couple of weeks) that a lot of times they will catch it and not pull another. So maybe even if you didn't get both cards, you may only end up with one inquiry. -Om
Re: FYI...multiple CITI accounts... nope just checked, i had two inquires 2 weeks apart from citi, then a 3rd when i combined the AA GOLD into my plat select product. All hard.
