For those looking for old creditnet members who use to post here, many of them are now on -

Would you please be so kind as to explain your statement above a bit more thoroughly? Just exactly what do you mean by "won't even register correctly." Are you talking about not being able to register on the board and actually getting it to recognize you as a new member or just what?

If that be the case maybe they have it set up so you can register all you want but they have it set up so that the new registrant has to be approved by the moderator and if for whatever reason s/he don't like you or your style or he thinks you might not fit in with their special group he don't let you in.

I don't have any idea what the answer may be but I thought I might offer that as a possibility.

I DON'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS READING IT...except I can't use NETSCAPE...it makes it really, really wide and I have to move that "THINGY" at the bottom to move the page to read it...

It works fine on IE...so I use IE to read it...

I was able to read it fine, when i register it craps out with some server error and spits out some debug info at me(Guess it expects me to solve the problem LOL).

Anyway, kudos to the current admin for not removing this thread. If i were him/her i would have done that without a second thought.

Ya right :). Someone on the street calls your GF/wife a *****, do you still respect his freedom of speech :)

The admin is under no obligation to keep this thread. Freedom of speech doesnt apply to a pvt board. I think we need to give credit when its due..

No, there is no approval process, Bill. I noticed you didn't have any problem registering.

It could be that desrman didn't wait for the authenticating email, or it could have been a server error. His name is there 3 times, only the last one has been activated. When I went to do my "rounds" I saw it and emailed him. I guess he didn't receive that email. I'm sorry he had problems.

There is some security in place, but only that the email address one uses to register must be a real email address, and we send an activation email (so someone can't register someone else, for instance).

There is a link at the bottom of each page that says "having problems? click here." It links to the user's default mail program, so the user does not have to be logged in or a member to use it, and it notifies admin that someone needs help with something.

No one is trying to recruit people away from creditnet. Many people participate in more than one board. No one is hassled there for participating in other boards, and we also freely recommend our users to other boards and resources. We are in the process of affiliating with some other boards officially, so each board's members gets a broader range of experience and information.

Thats right, Breeze, I didn't have any problems registering and I got the email just fine. Then I clicked on the link and it said I was registered. So I logged in and all the pages were blank except the user's name and whatever info they chose to put into their profile and no message appeared on any page I went to. And at the top it showed that no users were logged in even though I logged in 2 or 3 times in rather quick succession each time checking to see if I was on the board or not.

I didn't think too much about it because I figured that the moderator might have to update the records or something. It just didn't bother me that much as I figured I'd just wait till tomorrow to see what happened when I logged in again.

Then I came back over here and saw the newer posts so didn't know what to think.

I used NETSCAPE and had the same problem...use IE or move the bottom "THINGY" to move the page over...(THE PAGE IS TOO WIDE)

I just emailed our chief tech, he will check it out. Nope, no good reason for that.

AOL people can have problems if AOL is busy, because of the way AOL shifts the"load" around from server to server. Sometimes it changes the IP address, which is what our software uses to authenticate the user. That's the only glitch we know of. We tell AOL users when they register - it is being worked on.

The so called veterans who fled this board complained that "management" never gave them the respect they deserved. They also boasted about all they did for this board. I wonder if they ever considered what this forum did for them. If it had not been for this forum in the first place, it is unlikely they would have ever met. It also gave them a chance to gather much of their own knowledge, after which they have opted to run off together holding hands to a new bulletin board and then still come back here to lure away traffic to their new site. I find the practice disingenuous and deceitful. If I were them, I would not be proud.
