Hi all, I appreciate your time. I was served court papers on an old credit card. I responded with a validation letter, to which they sent me about a paragraph stating the amount I owe and last payment made.

It has gone back and forth and the last thing I received was a copy of letter to the judge of superior court saying they were working on discovery and wanted to cancel the court date. What court date? I never knew anything about it.

They say and the assignee of the credit card company says my last payment was in Feb 2006. I live in Georgia. I though the SOL was 4 years from every site I have looked at. I even called my state attorney general's office and that is what they told me to do. Now there is a reference on this site for credit info center that says the SOL is 6** for the following reason...."Georgia Court of Appeals came out with a decision on January 24, 2008 in Hill v. American Express that in Georgia the statute of limitations on a credit card is six years after the amount becomes due and payable"

Now what do I do?? Is it now correct that it is 6 years in Georgia when only one web site says it? I just don't know where to go next. Thanks for any help you offer me.

Also, if they first sent the notice of suit before the statute of limitations was up but they have not gotten anywhere with me yet, does the SOL still count for me?
