I just mentioned one in another thread and was wondering if anyone else goes to them here. I go every weekend, and some of the nicest things I own came to me from one. Here is a short list... A "looked BRAND NEW" leather sofa and chair (you know those brown "worn" looking leather sofa sets with the nail trim).. Together 200.00 The sofa alone sells at a furniture store here for about 1800.00 I have never seen a chair. A BEAUTIFUL teak entertainment center (huge 3 section weighs like 400 pounds ALL wood) 50.00 lights up on the shelves and everything (found reciept taped to the inside of the doors that open to view the TV from an Amish store for 2999.95 sofa chest 30.00 (never have seen one of these in a store, it is kinda rustic looking but way cool. LOL My computer desk (teak with real marble top looks like it cost well over a grand) 100.00 One last thing. My husband LOVED this picture that I thought was the ugliest thing in the world. We bought it anyway for 3.00 and it sat in the closet for a year. He decided to put it on Ebay. Imagine MY surprise when bidding went to 6,211.00!!! Not bad for a 3.00 picture! If you have never gone to one I have so much fun. LOL I also buy things and have my friend sell them on Ebay now. We split the going price 50-50 after my cost. I currently profit about 200.00-400 a month for doing something I love. opps this posted 3 times. Sorry!!!
Hey, I love Garage sales too, but sadly my place is too small for the stuff I like. You know the first rule of Garage sales is you have to have a U-haul truck, or a Suburban (need lotsa room to move that stuff around). It is the coolest way to spend the weekend and money. (but not too much, gotta bargain down prices). LOL.
'Round here we have a lot of flea markets at drive-in movie theaters, and the biggest holiday of the year in our small town is the "ALL TOWN YARD SALE." It has been quoted in our local 5 page newspaper that the population doubles on that day. Almost everyone has their stuff out on the front lawn by 7AM. There's nothing better than knowing you ripped someone off, and made them happy to boot! Anna
That's funny and true. Hey, I prefer 'contributing to the lightness of your wallet for the betterment of the economy'. LOL......
I love them but I'm always the one who ends up seeing what great stuff OTHER people came across. (My cousin finds great antique furniture). I always see 70ish stuff or just plan junk. Just my luck I guess! LOL!! Plus, I have a little trouble with getting up so early..... Newstdt
