As far as I can tell, the guarantor and CA who are trying to collect on a student loan debt only have my maiden name, not married. Since they have my correct SS# I assume it's only a matter of time before they get my married name. In the meantime, could they effectuate a garnishment against me if they only have my maiden name? Does anyone know if they give you notice before they contact your employer and start garnishing?

Yes, they can still get the garnishment. All they need to do is amend the name once they find out. SS# is probably all they need.

As for notice, in Arizona, and I don't if it is the same elsewhere, they do not need to give notice to the defendant until after the employer, or whoever they sending it to has been served.
