Are gas cards considered a retail/store card? Also...which is the easiest to be approved for after bk...Chevron or Shell...and do they report to the credit agencies?

Shell doesn't report for me, but Phillips66 does. Go figure. I have a feeling that very few gas cards report. As for how they count, Phillips reports as "Revolving Account, Credit Card" on my Trans Union report. I can't figure that one out either. :(

Chevron/Texaco report to all three cras.BP/Amoco has now started to report all new and existing accts . Most, but not all, original gas cards issuers do their hard inquiries through Equifax. This does not include gasoline companies that have sold, licensed, or "Partnered" their cc operations to second parties, i.e...Shell/Chase,Shell/Associates,Citgo/Associates,
    Sunoco/Associatesm/c,Exxon/Mobil/Associates m/c ,Phillips66/Associates m/c,Conoco/Associates m/c...

Chevron reports quickly, not the easiest card to get but good limits(my c/L is $1000,just for gas.)

I'm sorry to read that Texaco is now reporting. Same with Amoco. I may have to close some of my accounts.

    Richguy,
The merger of BP and Amoco, more than 1 year ago, produced Bp/Amoco. It is a large undertaking to start reporting millions of accts to cras and takes a good amount of time, effort, and determination.
The first BP/Amoco accts to report will be the newest, most recently opened after the merger.Next batch to report will be
remaining older accts that have new activity. Last batch to be assembled for reporting will be older accts that have no recent activity.
All BP/Amoco accts will list original acct open date. However, they are only going to report acct history for up to 12 prior months to start. So, if you had a 30 late with them 11 months ago,it may be worthwhile to not charge with the for another month or two.
In the 2 months since they started reporting, only 10-15% of the BP/Amoco accts have actually been reported.

Oh no! well I guess I will close those accounts. I just have them for gas purchases - they're a convenience, but you know what they'll do when they show up? That would put me at 16 revolving accounts. ARRRGGH!!

It looks like Aspire Visa will be my only "hidden" account now. And that makes it worth keeping only if I can negotiate a lower APR.

Are you guys sure Texaco is now reporting?? I have had them for ages but I still don't see them on any of my reports. I could actually use this, as it's a positive one for me. Long standing and never late. Where is mine????
