I did a search on the board of all the gas cards I could think of as I wanted one. I could not find any evidence that the oil companies would give a BKer a card. I have 4 visa cards and 2 retail cards. Now I don't want a gas card. If somebody here says they got a card, shout hallelujia. But call the company first and ask about their BK policy. Don't waste an inquiry without a telephone call. I think gas cards may be impossible to get when you have a BK.

    Forget Citgo, not bk friendly.

Thanks king. That's what I kinda figured. I searched quite a few threads on gas cards, but haven't found any that support a bk'er getting a gas card. Strange, since they have such low limits. Maybe because the banks issuing them are usually prime (chase, citi,etc..)

What 2 retail cards do u have, if you don't mind me asking, and how old is your bk?

How easy? What were your scores, if you don't mind me asking.

Mobil is issued by Fleet. From what i've read, Fleet is not bk friendly.

What is the BENEFIT of a "GAS" card???

    I had...(years ago...before I got a VISA/MC)
    SHELL
    TEXACO
    STANDARD
    UNION 76

In SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA...but I don't think there are ANY gas stations that ONLY take "GAS" cards and NO VISA/MC/AMEX/DISCOVER...

Well for one, your credit score is based partially on your mix of credit. Gas cards are classified in a different category than retail cards, revolving bank cards, etc... So having a gas card may increase your score somewhat. I know this is true because my cousin got an amoco card and her scores went up rather nicely after a few months of using the gas card.

I was not aware gas stations took visa/mc/discover, is this really true? In my state, they take cash only.

Very very easy!. My brother and a friend had only one account on their reports(Citibank as authorized user of my own account) when they were approved online. the limit is low
$200 but they report to the Cra's

ARCO in SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA is the ONLY place that takes CASH only that I have been to...

I live in COLORADO now...but every station between here and SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA take CREDIT CARDS OF ALL KINDS...EVEN DEBIT...THERE IS EVEN A "CREDIT CARDS ONLY STATION IN MY CITY"

Even BELFAST MAINE where MBNA AMERICA has an office (a TINY TOWN) that just passed 6,000 population) takes credit cards at gas stations...
    My AUNT also lives there...

    It was only a joke!

OK...I thought there could be some TEENY TINY TOWN that doesn't take cards because of some law...(or COLLUSION between businesses)...

Dont laugh - we have a chain of gas stations here that only accept cash (no credit cards, no checks). They say it keeps their costs down - and they are usually 10¢ per gallon cheaper than everyone else. They raised their prices this weekend - $1.199 per gallon for regular unleaded.

ARCO IN CA only takes CASH or DEBIT CARDS...

I have no idea if they get more business with lower prices...because NOT everybody has access to cash...

The ONLY business left in my city that takes CASH ONLY is TACO BELL...
(STAND ALONE)...when they are in a gas station or with KFC (shared building)...they take credit cards...

As far as cheaper for CASH only...some banks charge business to deposit CASH...(in addition to the gas involved in getting to the bank, time from work, "cost" of wages, time involved in counting the money...etc)

CREDIT CARD sales can be deposited in the account in 48 HOURS MAX with no one going to any bank...

That's funny about Taco Bell and KFC - their policies SHOULD be the same. They are both owned by PepsiCo.

    In our state:
Merchants pay 3% for each credit card transaction
and higher on Discover & Amex

When making a few cents on a gallon of gas it costs to take credit cards

If their own gas card is used no cost.

There is the Conoco MC, it gives you 3% rebate on purchases at Conoco, and 1% on other purchases... Not a super deal, but it is something, I know I will not qualify for it, the card is issued by Citi.. My girlfriend just applied for it online the other day and she got some message about her application 'pending', so hopefully she will be approved, and I can be 'AU'... anyone have this card??
