gateway account

    ok guys heres the situation... I have a gateway tl that is stuck on tu... Ex and eq deleted however tu verified twice. The gateway tl is a charge off in the ammount of 1600 back in 2000. I called up gateway to find out how and why they would verify an account that is not even mine. So the rep puts my name and ss# into the database and pulls up no info on me. She states there is no account in there systems for me. So heres the dilema. Tu tells me that gateway has verified this account. Gateway tells me that is impossible cause there is no account for me and that there is nothing they can do regarding the bureau.?. how is this possible .Isnt the oc responsible for the tradeline? And why am i getting the run around from oc and tu. If gateway never verified as tu says what steps can i take next. Also there is a ca involved with this account. And they also say there is no way they will stop collecting on this debt without a letter from gateway. But gateway wont even give me a letter cause they say i am not in there system. I am seriously loosing sleep over this. I just dont know where to take this matter next. Any suggestions?

    Working for gateway, I know that we don't handle any of the financing ourselves, we use MBNA or Citibank. I would try to contact them in regards to a gateway account and see where that goes. Hope it helps.

    1. Send TU a procedures request. Your setting them up to sue.

    2. In the meantime see if Gateway will give you a letter that says your name SS# is not in their system.

    2. Have you sent validation to the CA? Are they still trying to collect? My next step with them would be an ITS as well, if that is the case. If you haven't validated that would be my first step with them.

    I have the same type of problem with Gateway and TU. Gateway never responded to any of my letters till I sent my ITS (3rd letter). They finally wrote me and told me that they would take care of the problem. EQ and EX fixed the lates, but TU still verified. I called TU and they blamed Gateway, I sent them my letter from Gateway and they just started a new investigation instead of correcting the mistake. I'd like to know who is at fault, but I want to say TU since Gateway did fix it with EQ and EX (or maybe they didn't verify with EQ and EX and they fixed it on their own.) I would just keep hounding Gateway and get a letter from them stating the case and forward it to TU with an ITS letter. I'm gonna wait till this investigation ends and then if it is still not fixed, I'm going after TU with a lawsuit (I got other problems with them too).
