Here's my email I sent you back Gavenraj.

It took me well over a year and a whole lot of work. I got most of my help from the creditnet board. I started by getting my credit reports and then disputing all the negative information. The ones that didn't go away I disputed again and again. When I had some stubborn derogs left that wouldn't go away, I started going after the original creditors. I used Doc's nutcase letter and the validation letter to get things rolling. I had to file a suit against Verizon to get rid of their chg off, but they settled and I
dismissed. If you have specifics, I would be more than happy to help, but your best bet is to post to the board, because you have many experts to help
    there.

Are you just beginning or have you been repairing for a while?

Tell me a little about your credit situation. I'll try to point you in the right direction.

    Good question :)

He hasn't posted yet, although is a member. This peaked my curiousity that perhaps this would be a good way for a troll to never post, no ip address for us to see and lookup, then get our email address on the reply. But then I realized I was being paranoid and tried to email a response. I see that he's logged into the board right now. I guess we won't know unless he responds. That is if he is a he and not a she ;)

Yes, I am a he and I apologize I could not catch up to the amount of mail I was receiving in my Cox.net email account (mostly SPAM). Sorry all.

Pat, thanks for your advice and yes, I am just beginning. It started today when I was seeking to refinance my house and get cash out. BofA declined to offer the cash out I was asking for. My credit score they reported was 616. They have offered to do a refi at a lower cash point. I wanted to get cash out is to pay off my credit card Debt and a car.

    Options I think I have:

    1) [June] a) Obtain a refinance loan and use the extra $10k to pay off a 14.9% CC.
    b) [Sometime in the future] Obtain a home equite line and pay off Debt

    2) [Clean Credit Report, not sure how long this will take] Obtain a refinance loan and cash out when my credit score has achieved the level the Banks want.

Notice: I have not yet obtained any Credit Reports from any company because I am trying to verify which company would be the best to retrieve this information as well as offer the option to monitor activity on all three bureaus. I NEED help here.

Any help would be deeply appreciated as I would like to help others once I get to your level.

    Thanks,

    Gavenraj

    Ok,

If you haven't yet, read the top two links on the board. Nave's Unofficial CreditNet Board FAQ and Richard612's Creditnet glossary (for newbies).

Your best bet is to get the reports straight from the "horses mouth".

You can get them all online. You can either pay per report or join their service.

Both EQ and EX offer a $70-$80 a year service that produce notifications of changes and unlimited credit reports and scores. This is kind of steep, but well worth it through the repair process.

EQ will give you your real FICO score, whereas TU and EX will give you their own type of score, which doesn't necessarily equate to FICO but helps you see progress through your repair.

EQ's Services Credit Watch is $69.95 per year with a 30 day free trial. So if you don't want to pay, you can at least get your first report free, and cancel after 30 days. You might be able to dispute online with EQ, it depends on whether or not you have a local affiliate. If you start an online dispute, the first thing it asks for is zip. It will then either let you start the dispute or tell you who your local affiliate is that you have to mail the dispute to. If you have to mail, we'll cover this later.

EX CreditExpert service is $79.95 and has the same 30 day free option. You can dispute online right from your credit report.

TU doesn't have a decent monitoring service, but as of this time, you can still get your report and score for free, with a small white lie. You can get your report and score here. Put in that you were denied credit recently, put a company name and date (within 60 days of the day you are ordering it). You can also dispute online with TU.

So, join the services, get your reports (all 3). Go through and create a list of all the negatives. Your reason codes on your credit scores will tell you why your score isn't higher.

Once you have your negatives listed out, come back here and post your negatives tradelines (derogs) and we'll tell you which are the worst and how to dispute.

If you are desperate to get cash now, do what you have to do. But, if you can wait a few months, you might be able to make a decent impact in your score in 60 days. It just depends on how your disputes turn out.

    Gavenraj,

I'll try and break this down how I see it. I would dispute all of this in one go.

1a&b) They will remove incorrect address and employment information, however they won't add or update it. You can call them to have this info removed.

    2) Dispute this as "Not mine" or "No knowledge..."

    3&4) Dispute as "Never Late"

    5) This is a positive account.

    6) Dispute 2 of these as duplicates.

    7) USA is a positive, dispute Sallie Mae as should be "Pays as agreed", zero balance or paid.

    8) All 3 are positive accounts. I would leave them alone for a while, get rid of the negatives first, rebuild second and then get rid of them.

    9) Both are positive.

    10) Yes, all old information will show for at least 7 years for negatives, and I think 10 years for positives. You could dispute that this should be pays as agreed.

    11) This is up to you. I wouldn't close them until I did some work on the negatives, since they are all positive. It's hard to predict the effect of closing them on your score. It depends on if any of these are your oldest tradeline and what your total credit available and utilization percentage are. Even armed with this knowledge, its still hard to predict. If you are determined to close them, go 1 or 2 at a time and then check your score after they report closed.
