Hi all - Wanted to get a discussion going to get more info on something i read about today. Apparently, EXP has a service that businesses can subscribe to that sends CA's and OC's information on when your credit score/situation improves that allows them to begin trying to collect again. This service is known as "triggers". Can anyone comment on this? Maybe the legality, if this has happened to anyone? Thanks! D
All the CRAs have been doing this for a long time. It's a very profitable side business, as I'm sure you can imagine. However, I don't believe they're doing anything that violates the FCRA or any other laws. Of course, that doesn't mean you have to like it or agree with it. These are the same "triggers" that determine when you get pre-approved credit offers or a bunch of junk mail for mortgages when you happen to be shopping for one. Really, at the end of the day, the CRAs are all expert marketers of your personal information.
