    Hello,

On experian, it gives me the option to enter a personal statement on my credit report.

Hey, I dont trust anyONE, and especially the credit bureaus....so, what does the personal statement do for me?

should I enter one, and what should it say? or, just ignore it!

    thanks for the info....

Ignore it. It doesn't do anything for your credit score, and lenders don't read them anyway.

If you have errors on your credit report that you want to dispute and remove, follow the normal procedures and don't verify something negative on your report by trying to explain it in a personal statement.

thanks, the more I am reading, that makes the most sense. When the report is clean (the goal) there is nothing to explain, right?

    thanks

That's right. When it's clean, your resulting credit score will speak for itself.

I've always wondered about these as well. Before I knew any better, I had a debt from Dish Network that was cleared, but the CA refused to remove it from my report. I sent the CA a copy of the letter from Dish explaining the error and stating that I owe nothing, but it remained.

The debt has since lapsed from my report, but I always wondered if this was used for something like "Proof of zero liability from original creditor on file".

No, it probably went into the trash. The CRAs report what the creditors tell them to report. They don't act on what you send them.
