Someone please help me...please say you've dealt with this CA before, they are in TX. Here's what happened. In my quest to repair my credit, I had a United Credit National Bank account on my credit bureau, I never owed this, and never opened this account. I was given the Genesis # 2 weeks ago by Household, who bought the UCNB accounts after the bank went under...anyways the entry was from UCNB on my credit report, I disputed it, it went away, my score went up 66 points, because it was listed as a charge off from 99. Anyways, today I checked CE, and there was a new collection from Genesis, saying they bought my UCNB acct. It made my score drop 28 points, I was pissed to say the least!! When I talked to a Genesis rep 2 weeks ago, to tell them of the fraudulent debt, they appeared very understanding...what a crock of bs.. They hit me with a collection, after they said they'd send me an affidavit of fraud, it never arrived. What should I do? I don't want to have to wait the 30 days , and send the estoppel letter...I want this removed ASAP!!! Should I just sue them, based on a bad faith conversation I had with the rep...obviously they knew there was a UCNB entry on my report, I told them I was disputing that...they said fine..then they added their trade... Has anybody dealt with GFS, have a fax# a tel # of someone I can deal with directly.. I just filed BBB with them, and am writing the AG of TX and MD.. Please help... I was almost in the 600 club for one day anyways.... Arthur
My problem with Genesis Financial was almost identical to yours (the account they said I had with UCNB was from 1996, and they sold it to GFS last year). I sent them the 30-day validation, I sent another 30-day validation, then I sent an estoppel letter and threatened to sue. The day after they signed the last return-receipt card, they sent me a letter stating that they were deleting the account from my credit reports. Just send the letters and hang in there! kjoe
