You will never believe this. Called Equifax waited 30 minutes for a rep. He tried the same thing came up "internal error cannot process". It's the freakin Discover Card. After entering in Amex Blue that baby went right through. I never even thought to try another credit card. But try w/ the Blue I bet it works. I'm crossing my fingers for you. FYI: FICO 703. Yea!

    Congrats.

Dani, would you mind sharing with us the positives and negatives (I doubt you would have any) on your report? The "length of time" accounts have been open etc. It'll really help me calibrate where I'm currently in terms of my pursuit of a 700. Here is my situation:

I got a 664 with one charge off from 1994 which will drop off in about 6 months. That's only negative on my report. My oldest account, an AMEX, is on the report since 1992. I've 1 CC since 1993, 1 CC since 1996, 1 CC since 1998, and 3 CCs since 3/2000. My balance to limit ratio is under 10%.

    Regards.

You would think that your score would be higher...I expected it to be (from what you've posted about your credit history) at least in the 700s!!???

You think maybe you have too many cards? Just like Juniper stated???? Just speculating...

    Hi. My reason codes were:

14 - length of time accounts have been established (true, my oldest acct is 4 yrs old)
10 - proportion of balances to credit limits on bank accounts (true, just bought new car)
01 - amount owed on accounts is too high (true, Amex is really messing me up with the nonreporting of credit limit)
08 - too many inquiries in last 12 mos. (this one I don't get - I had 2 in the last 12 mos)?

A 664 is pretty good. From what you told me everything sounds great on your report except that nasty chargeoff. Once that falls off you should be in the 700s without a problem. I really do believe that chargeoff dropping would make a whole lot of difference. Have you tried disputing it since you only have six months left? Best of luck. I have no doubt you will be in the 700s in no time.

    Dani,

Thanks so much for the info.

As for disputing the chargeoff, have tried several times over the last few years. It got knocked off my experian and transunion 3 months ago. But equifax somehow always manages to verify the account. Will give it another shot in a few months.

    Thanks.

GEORGE, I think you should stay on the wagon. I know it's hard and you want to fall off a couple of times on purpose(lol), but it will be worth it. You have accounts with issuers many of us only dream about, but you may have too much credit?? I know you are great at managing your credit and your score is good, but this has to be the only reason your score is not like 800 or something wild like that(which is what you deserve). Do you have some department store or gas cards you could get rid of? This is just a thought. :)

Re: still stay on the wagon???

ONLY SEARS only used for 10% off days and 0.00% interest for a given amount of time.

NO GAS CARDS...they take VISA/MC AMEX & DISCOVERCARD.

FIRST USA IS GOING IF THEY DON'T RESCIND THE 24%+++ ($21,500)

I CALLED ONCE...the guy said the address is on the statement if I choose to not accept the 24%+++
I told him my highest interest I will pay is 9.99%...HE DIDN'T CARE...
