I just paid a balance for Cap1 online, before my statement came out and left exactly .99 as my balance. My statement has a credit of .99 and I wonder if I'm on to something... So, please try this with your account and let me know how it works. My theory is that they don't bill anything under $1.00, so that's why I got a credit of 99 cents. If this is the case, then paying everything but .99 each month would net me $11.88 yearly. Since I was not interested in leaving a balance on Cap1 anyway, this works out really well. I was once told by a CSR that it costs Cap1 an average of $100 yearly to keep an account, and that's why they would not do away w/the annual fee or high interest rates. I vowed to give them zero interest at that point. Now, if this actually works, we can do better than making them keep small balances. We can actually cost them an additional $11.88 annually, making a small dent in the annual fee. Imagine if this works and we get a few hundred people doing this. Small change adds up when multiplied by hundreds or thousands.
Re: get back $11.88 from Cap1- mayb Give me a break...the majority of card issuers don't charge annual fees. Sounds like the CSR blowing smoke up your *** to cover for their greed.
Re: get back $11.88 from Cap1- mayb Maybe it's true, maybe it's not. I'd like to see if this little strategy of mine can not only cost them money but put a bit of change back in your pocket.
