Getsmart CLI Question

I have vad a Getsmart Visa since August 2001 with a $1,000 CL. I have charged about $4,000 on it (mostly business expenses) and have carried a balance some months and paid in full other months with a current balance of about $75.

My EQ score is about 600 or so with no derogs in just over a year.

I haven't received any CL offers yet and was wondering if anyone had any idea what my chances would be asking for one? Also, what is the best way (e-mail through the account access web-site, phone or PFB)?

    Thanks!

I can tell you about my experience today with them. I too have had my account since 1999. With no credit line increase in the past 10 months. I carry a balance and pay 2x the min payment. I also have never been late on a payment since day one. I called for a line increase and they said that they don't take requests on the phone for CL increases and that the accounts are reviewed monthly. She said that my pay history is perfect the only thing holding me back from getting an increase is that I don't use my card every month. I asked to speak to the retention department she said they do not have one of these any more. Just a department to close accounts. Needless to say this is a very good account on my credit report so I am going to pay it off and let them report my avail. credit to the CRA and I will start using another card. This was my experience today 4/15/02

Boomer I don't think any of us will get a cl increase from GetSmart.

I, too, called today to ask about my earlier request for a manual review. I was told that it was declined; in fact, my account was not reviewed at all. They only solicit by mail.

The reason is GetSmart has tightened their cl increases, even though the supervisor said the same criteria is being used today as in the past. I had this verified by someone I know who works at Providian. Things are very tight.

My account has been opened almost 2 years, with no cl. I do not expect anything from GetSmart. The only good thing about the account is it is not performance based so it will not be repriced; the account has no annual fee, and has a grace period.

We have a Getsmart, used it once and paid the $59 annual fee. Called when the card was 1 year old to cancel and they talked us into keeping it. They reduced the APR to 16.9, gave us a grace period, waived the annual fee and doubled the limit to 2K. Still haven't used the card. Most likely will cancel it soon. Maybe they will do even better this time.
