I cancelled my GetSmart Visa Classic yesterday! I called up to check my account balance and make sure I was getting the 25-day grace period I was guranteed. Previously when I called, I was told there was NO grace period on the classic card, yet I talked it over with an account specialist who assured me there was. The website even says it! So, I was transferred to a Special Rep again, who was a real jerk. He told me the website indeed did say there was a 25-da grace period. He told that they had JUST changed it, but it's been on their site back from the middle of June! I was really flaming at this point, because he told me when I applied they hadn't changed the grace period over to 25 days, and asked if I had a copy of the website saved to print out, and I didn't. I asked if there was anything he could do, such as change the grace, because the website did say there was a grace when I applied (I never would have wasted an inquiry if there was no grace), and he told me it couldn't be changed. So, I told him to close the account, and he went on to glorify the convenience of the damn smart card, and that's when I told him "If you can't change the damn grace period and stop fraudulently advertising, why would I want to keep your card?" He once again bounded into his talks, and I said "Look sir, I really don't care what you are saying, if there is no grace period, I want this card cancelled." He finally gave up and closed the account, and told me I would be getting the bill for my $12.00 balance soon. THANK GOD! Stay away from this card, plus 23.99% Interest! That's hogwash!!!

You should write a certified rr letter requesting removal of that wasted inquiry. If they don't remove it I would complain to the FTC and post a shared letter on PlanetFeedback.

Matty, you might want to search for my planetfeedback letter from a couple of days ago about Providian grace periods.

do you have a link to that letter? What should I say in the letter? Any tips would be appreicated. If they won't do anything, I will dispute on my own. What were the dispute reason be? False advertising?
