anyone know any tricks on getting a CA's fax number? everytime I call they automatically ask for my SS#..which they will not get.
Who is the CA? I did a lot of "principal" and "contact" hunting for commercial accounts at a previous job (basically, skip tracing on internet domain accounts) and had pretty good luck with some of these tricks. If you know their website, check the WhoIs for the domain - it should have a phone and fax #. Check job boards for the company name - you may find an ad that contains contact info. Use Google and try searches on their address or phone #, or try "@NoregardforthelawCA.com" to get an e-mail address. (Obviously, use the actual CA's domain name there. LOL) One of the accounts I nailed down (for work) was a CA whose info I found listed in a lawsuit filing on the web. If you know the name of a principal at the CA, search for their name. You'd be amazed at how much contact info I found because some of the internet hotshots were quoted in articles online. Check collectionindustry.com, debtmarketplace.com, collectionworld.com, etc. If you don't find them there, check the job boards on those sites. I've also found some contact info in my local paper's Help Wanted ads. Call the CA, tell them you have a debt you want them to collect and ask if you can send the info to them via fax. Or, tell them you've been trying to fax a copy of a check or a resume or something and say "I've been faxing it to ###-###-####, is that the right number?" Or, you could say you're the OC for your account and your faxes aren't going thru. Try dialing "around" their number, if you have a direct, local # for them. If you hit one with a fax tone, fax a garbage fax to them and see if it gives you any info on the confirmation. You can also check faircreditmovement.org - Kimberly has contact info on quite a few CAs there.
