I just had my 341 meeting yesterday, and am moving and disconnecting my phone. I was wondering if there is a company where I can get a cell phone without having to put down a huge deposit. Thanks for your help..

I got a cingular phone 3 years ago. They made me pay a $100 dollar deposit for 1 year. I missed 1 lousy $30 payment in that year, so they kept it for another year. So after 2 years I got the deposit back plus $12 intrest. I had forgot all about it so it was a nice surprise.

There are "no plan" phones - AT&T has "go" - where you just purchase the phone & minutes, then replenish your minutes as needed.

This is a good option but the air time is very expensive !

He said he didn't have much for a deposit. Pay now or pay later.

I just got an offer from AT&T GoPhone. I don't have a cell, so don't know what all this means, but it sounds good.
    -Free headset
    -Free delivery
-Free weekends with plans $39.99 and above
-No wireless long distance charges apply to calls placed from the AT&T Wireless National Service Area to anywhere int he 50 US. Standard airtime charges apply.
-Included is voicemail, caller ID, domestic wireless long distance, domestic roaming, ring tones.
-No credit check, no deposit, no monthly bill.
    1-800-845-6077

Of course you have to call to find out what the regular minute charge is. So could this be a good deal?

I know and you gave good advice. I was just warning him about the air time charges.

As you said, you either pay now or pay later!!

If you travel a lot and are out of the Service Area, you might have to pay long distance fees.

Also, you want to see what the std airtime charge is: it could be as high as 70c a minute!

Sounds like a good deal if you are going to use the phone mostly locally, and not travel a lot with it.

Also nights/weekends probably start after 9PM? so get used to doing most of your calling after 9pm or on the weekend

neat thing about nokia gsm phones (most modern ones) is you can unlock them on nokiafree website then you can use them for whatever service provider you want. Like when i goto europe i can buy a prepaid card and not pay ridiculous us rates to call friends etc..

its 100% legal too, its your phone.
