I have a judgement on my credit report. Has anyone had any experience with getting approved for a credit car with that on your report. I have gotten approved with Providian in the past. In fact I have a card with 5000.00 cl, but that does not mean much with that company. The judgement this month is five years old. In about a week or so I am going to pay it so it will be listed as satisfied on my report. If anyone has any experience with this, it would be great. Also, when applying for credit electronically, do they just pull the score or does a red flag go up that says you have a public record and it stops right there regardless of score. I have equifax score of 636 and Eloan of 663. Don't know about TU yet, but equifax is 500s. I am also reducing my debt this month by about 70%. Does it really make a difference with the judgement?
Just so you are aware, and I'm not advising one way or the other, but, paying a judgment and having it show as satisfied as opposed to unpaid, will do nothing for your scores.
That is probably the case. However, I am going to apply for a mortgage probably in August, and I have to as much cleaned up as possible. I know that I have to satisfy the judgement 1st. Plus the creditor has threatened to garnish my wages, not in those words. But they said that they would do anything to get what I owe to them. I just wonder what happens 1st. Does the fact that I have the judgement automatically deny me for additional credit or does the score come first and then the public record is added to the list of reasons?
When you apply for credit, especially a conventional or FHA mortgage, everything is taken into account. You will usually not qualify for a conventional or FHA mortgage with an unpaid judgement on your credit. However, you will probably be able to qualify for a non-conforming mortgage at a higher interest rate as long as the judgement, paid or unpaid, is at least 1-2 years old. Credit cards on the other hand have a completely diferent set of rules and each is their own. Good luck to you fla-tan
Thanks. So do you have any experience on how paying the judment will affect the score? And do you have any experience on whether or not the DOLA will start over again once it is paid?
I can't tell what will happen scorewise once the judgement is paid. I can say that the DOLA will start over with payment, as that is the last activity on the judgement. fla-tan
In CA, no title company will issue clear title on a property purchased by a consumer with an unsatisfied judgment. The title companies take the position that once an abstract is filed in the county where the subject property is located, title becomes clouded. That said, I'm now wondering if title companies are as firm in other states. Anyone know?
I just had one deleted from EX and it did absolutely nothing to the score. Of course, it was about 5 years old so I don't know if that had anything to do with it.
I had all of the old addresses removed. I called in and they didn't give me a problem. Someone else said that they verify judgements by using name and address. I found this to be true. They can't use ss# because the judgement doesn't list it. So, when I got rid of all of the old addresses, it came off. I never had one on EQ and TU deleted after I called them and told them that there were duplicates and they better take them off. They did it seems on the phone. Hope this helps.
Did you call in and say that it was not yours? What was the reason you used that they had to have it taken off?
EX: I disputed online. TU: I called in and said they were duplicates and they deleted them both. Of course, I still have a collection with the same case # but at least it's not listed as a judgement.
I had a judgement, cleared the old addresses it was associated with, challenged it through the CRAs as not mine. EQ and TU deleted it, it came back verified as satisfied with the date it was paid from Experian, so I don't know how they validate, but the info was correct and I didn't give them anything, so they must have validated it through the OC. It was satisfied, so I was approved for my car and house loan, however - can't give you any information beyond that.
Are you paying above prime rates? And do you know what your score is after the judgements were able to come off? One more thing, was there an improvement on your scores after you satisfied the judgement? Thanks.
Do you know about judgements? Does it start the reporting period on judgements if you are satisfying the judgement? And if they do start it over, does it affect the score? Thanks.
Ok, I see. I thought that maybe you just disputed it as not yours or something and they took it off. Thanks for your reply.
