Getting CapOne increase

I've had a CapOne card for 1 year. I've always paid it on time, but my limit is still $300.00. I can't use it to rent vehicles or travel for my company. I would like the limit to be around $5K, but I would settle for $2K. I only have one other card, an Orchard Bank. It's limit is $325.

My fico scores are 619. 623, 645 (within 1 or two points) as of about 2 weeks ago.

What should I do to increase this?

I hate Capital One. I've had my card for a year too but with just a $450 credit limit. Big deal. After a year went by I called and called and called and got nowhere in requesting a credit limit increase. I finally had to threaten them that i was going to close the account unless they gave me a credit limit increase. They finally did. But they only gave me $200 increase. Big whoop. So I decided for the next five months I'm going to pay the account in full and then close it. I've had it with Capital One. Stay away from them. They are stickler when it comes to credit limit increases. They are very rude too. I totally despise them.

So, if I were to drop cap one and find someone else, who is most likely to approve me (considering the scores above)?

Cap 1 is one of the toughest to get any CLI. There are ways to get one but nothing that I am aware of that will get you the CLI that you are seeking in a short time.

Your scores are in the sub-prime range so most if not all prime cc lenders will say no.

I suggest you try to build your CL slowly with the two cards that you. Start with Cap 1 and try PFB. I'm not sure if PFB is still working or not as there are posts here that indicate Mr. Cooke is no longer handling PFP letters.

Some posters here have more than one Cap 1 account (as the the limits increase, they combine the accounts for one big account). Still I'm not sure if Cap 1 is still sending out appliations to present cardholders to apply for another account.

Also work on your scores as they are the key to your credit. Why are scores are what they are? Post questions for help here or do a search here as there is a wealth of information here.

    Best regards,
    Mirage

Well I canceled the card. I have an orchard bank card still. My scores (detailed above) are due to being unemployed or self-unemployed from 1998 to 2000. One judgement (satisifed), and one repo that was done illegally (I'm currently fighting). The rest are slow pays that I don't think are accurate. I'm working the report, but I'm not sure how well I will fair. This is my second round, my first was about 1 year ago, dealing with the biggest problems.

What is up with that? I can't even get a measly $100 increase to even out my limit to 10K.

Anyways, congratulations on the NICE increase!!!
How are you using the card? PIF? Carry a balance? What is APR? Sorry for all the questions, but that is huge increase considering it is Cap.1

The only way I ever get any kind of decent increase is to call Cooke at the Ivory Tower
