I kind of slowed my battle with credit repair and now I am back again. I recently applied for a Macy's card..thinking with all of their corporate changes surely I could get one. I totally forgot that I had a card with them when I was 17. They responded by declining me, reason given was prior unpaid account. What's the chance that I could pay them and get an account again since I am almost 33 and this was sooooo long ago? Any tips? Let me know. Thanks a million!!
Why do you want a store card? They generally have higher rates (22% to 24%, and low limits) than the terms you can get with a good VISA or MC, and of course are only usable at that store. In particular, they are useless for travel. They are primarily useful for establishing initial credit history. Do you have other VISA or MC accounts?
well i was looking at it from having a positive trade line...upgrading along the way to bigger and better things. After I sent this post, I have decided to go with the Bof A secured Visa. I think that I am more tempted to "temporarily" do Macy's for the kids things and the ridiculous bargains that I find between the actual store and the website. SO I guess that means I don't really need it. The old account is past SOL anyway so whatever Macy's..I guess I will be using VI/MC. Thanks.
Some store cards are worth it. I have Banana Republic's card and I get free alterations with it. You also get coupos all the time. I pay the balance every month in full though because of the 19% APR.
