First of all, I just wanted to tell everyone that post to this board, YOU ROCK! I started working on getting my credit reports clean up about 3 months ago and I have had 5 items removed so far and thanks to Doc, I am working on getting my hard and soft inq off. Thanks Doc and I will let everyone know the progress. I have had a Providian account open for almost a year and they have yet to raise my limit. I have since open 3 additional credit cards account and have paid them on time. Any suggestion on what I should do? I called them at 6 months and they said they were reviewing this and would get back to me. Thanks everyone for all the great information, hopefully I will be able to provide some insight as I get my credit scores up.
I get the same "6 month review" response also for my PayPal Visa (by Providian)... I am assuming that they have done acct reviews and have determined that I do not qualify for increases. Likewise, I've read tons of posts from the past 2 weeks regarding Providian doing the rate increases... Don't forget, with rate increase opportunities, they will charge you $29 or $35 (?).
Do a planetfeedback.com letter to providian. The CSR 800# has not been helpful for me, but the planetfeedback approach has worked every time with providian.
Providian is really funny on how they raise a cl. I think it's policy now that you have to wait for an offer in the mail or see if they raise your limit automatically. My guess is that the cl is tied to length of your account and how much of a balance you carry from month to month. The only constant is that on your anniversay you will get a small boost in your cl, 10% of your starting cl when you opened your account. Some here have paid for the cl increase and many have not. If you don't pay for one the cl increase is much lower. There should be an offer every 4 months. Hope this helps. Best regards, Mirage
Thanks all for the information so far, just a quick update. I called Providian and they said that the only do this through mail offer, no customer intiated request. I guess that's the way it goes.
I have gotten the same response, PFB them, and got a CL increase, APR decrease, yearly fee waived, and upgrade to gold. This is when customer service told me no to each one of these. Try Planetfeedback-it works w/ Providian.
Go to www.usps.com and see the story about the rate increase...(how rates are set). A lot of our MONEY is wasted in hearings and "TONS" paperwork!!!
