Greetings! I've been surfing the boards for quite a while trying to get through the "newbie" stage. My husband found this site a while back and got me hooked on it. We knew we had a lot to learn and some strange stuff to get out of the way before we could get serious about cleaning up our credit reports.

Back in March, we ordered our credit reports and disputed addresses. Shortly after, we received new credit reports with correct addresses on them.

I think I'm going to attack my credit reports first. (I really have to talk to hubby about his credit reports as I have NO CLUE what a lot of the stuff in his could be.)

    Here's what I'm facing:

Experian: Back in March, it was very ugly. I had 4 derogs there. At the time, I just disputed old weird addresses leaving just my current address and 1 former addres. When I received an updated report, Experian is completely clean. There's one account in good standing. No derogs. WOW!

Equifax: In March, disputed addresses. Nothing else came off the report with the addresses. This one has 3 R9s. I plan to dispute as not mine.

TransUnion: Disputed addresses in March. This one has 2 charged off as bad debt; 2 payment after charge off/collection. I'll dispute those as not mine.

I was working with a debt consolidation/credit counseling thing (anyone ever heard of Edge Solutions?). I got to the point here on the board that I realized I really could do the same thing they were doing . . . a lot cheaper! I fired them back in May and I'm still waiting for a refund of some cash they were holding in escrow.

Does it sound like I'm headed in the right direction? Any advice, pointers you could give would be greatly appreciated!

    Rhonda,

I am pretty new to this stuff also, but it sounds like you are off to a good start. The only advice I feel competent to offer at this time is to keep reading and learning. I read the forums everyday because some stuff can get buried very quickly. I also bookmark posts that contain info I might need later or just want to refer back to.

    Good luck

Just so I get my money out of Edge, I'll be a very happy camper. Honestly, though, I'm not really counting on it. I'll let the board know what happens.

Any one (or two) of the really experienced CreditNet people out there with thoughts on if I've started right and maybe what my next step should be?

Thanks in advance for the help!

    Rhonda
