I am working on some credit items on my credit report. I filed CH-13 in Dec 00. I submitted a dispute letter to TU in June 2002. I received a response from TU that said I must submit copies of my bankruptcy paperwork to them so that they can verify my information. My question is: If I am disputing information, isn't it the responsibility of the credit bureau to verify my information? Also, bankruptcy information is public information, if the credit bureau needs it, can they look up my CH-13 info themselves? Can I write back to the credit bureau and request them to check my disputed items without providing my paperwork. I know that I make it worst on myself by giving them my paperwork. I need some advice.
I would send them back a letter stating that no where in the FCRA does it state that you MUST provided anything to them in order to dispute inaccuracies. Advise them their 30 days are long past and you want the items deleted now.
I have duplicate accounts, paid collection accounts, judgements and address correction. Many of these accounts are about 1 year before they come off my report.
