Applied for a 0% balance transfer Fleet Plat. card. Already have a Fleet Plat. card. Has anyone had success with getting two Fleet Plat. cards?
Never had any Fleet card, and will never apply ... Their card agreement states that the agreement will be governed by the laws of State of Rhode Island ... one of the most unfriendliest states to the consumer. The SOL in RI is 15 years for a credit-card agreement, where as in most other states, the maximum is 7 years, or less. Sorry I don't have an answer to your main question, but just thought I would bring this to your attention if you are unaware. Ignore my post if you feel like it. -- lakpr
Re: Re: Getting Two Fleet Cards. 15 years?!?!? Thats unreasonable, even for a good ole conservative boy from Louisiana -- 3 year SOL (we call it prescription) for open accounts here.
yes. I received an invitation for 9.9 plat in Oct 2002. Applied and was approved for a $3500 plat card, 0% for BT and then 9.9%. Then in Feb 2003 I got another invitation and applied and was approved for a 2500 plat card 0% bal transf and go to 7.9% APR. I have called many times to try to combine both cards and they keep saying that the do not combine cards!!. the two Fleet cards are my lowest limit cards
lakpr.... I never turn down 0% offers. If nothing more collect 1.9 % interest on the free money. Geo. Thanks for the info. Will let you know if they can be combined, but have to get the card first.
Whatever other problems there may be with Fleet, don't worry about RI's 15-year statute of limitations. The only statute that matters is the one in your state even though the agreement says that RI law applies.
dave I actually have a problem with fleet. In 2001 I got an 18,000 0% interest card from them. I didn't balance transfer because at that time I didn't know you could transfer to your bank acct. It was for a year, and I was charging as fast as I could to reach the limit. (Putting the money aside) I pay on the internet, and paid 6 days before due date. The next thing I knew they said I was one day late, cut me off at 12,600 and raised my rate to 18 - 20%, can't rem. exactly, but it was high. Anyway I simply paid it off and haven't used them since. But like I said, I will take any 0% interest offer. The price is right, and I'll give them another chance to loan me money at no interest. he he jay
