My husband (who has a bankruptcy from 1993) has financed several vehicles with GMAC and even with the BK, GMAC has always gone along with any specials they have. Most recently we got 6.9% APR on a 2001 truck--GMAC apparently allows the dealerships to offer what they have to make the sale. So if it's out there and ask about it, you can get it if you choose GMAC financing. We've always tried to have about $2K down, but I don't know if this matters or not. If they hedge and say "we can give you 9%" and we know there's a special going on, we've just said "well, sorry, we want the XX rate you advertised" --and we've always gotten it. And trust me, he doesn't have the greatest credit--he's trying, but there are still some glitches. Ford Credit, however, assigns a tier level and will only give you what they say you get--i.e. if they say you have C-level credit you get the higher rates.
Hmm...but I am mad at GMAC right now My car is a GM and it's a steaming pile!! Hmmm....is zero interest worth getting into another steaming pile? Have to weigh that one.
Ditto Chele Chele 0% interest is irrelevant when the cars fall apart immediately @ 3 years/36,000 miles...or before. GMAC has gotten its last cent out of me. Fortunately, mine is now paid for-so I'll have extra money to put into the chronic repairs.
Re: Ditto Chele Chele I have 17 months left and the car has been in the shop since 4 weeks after I leased. And we are not talking about oil changes!! This is major crap that is wrong with the car. Actually, it's in the shop now for a blown head gasket. And, no, I didn't overheat it. It is a steaming pile. Always a problem, never a pleasure.
Re: Ditto Chele Chele I worked for GM making this stuff so I know how bad it is. I agree that 0% is meaningless when the car is always in the shop. And my dealer always took a minimum of four days to fix even the smallest problem. Do yourself a favor. Buy Toyota, Honda, or Nissan. It is a world of difference. I think that in some cases, the prices will be a little lower. If you do buy GM, be sure to sign up for AAA towing service. You will need it. Your tow truck driver will become your best friend.
GM and 0% Interest Maybe GM should offer 0% financing to folks like me with bad credit. If I had 0% interest (instead of 20%), imagine how much more likely I will be to make my payments on time
Re: GM and 0% Interest I ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT PEOPLE WOULD BE MORE LIKELY TO PAY A BILL THAT HAD 0.00% OR EVEN 2.99% THAN ONE AT 20.00% OR 27.99%...
Re: GM and 0% Interest Honda is the BOMB! I've had mine for almost 10 years and have only had to pay $500 in all that time for maintenance other than the usual oil changes, tune-ups, etc. I have over 130,000 miles and she looks good and drives great, not to mention the seats are soooo comfortable for my 3 hr commutes! Love my Honda and plan on getting another one next year! Great investment and hold value, too.
Re: GM and 0% Interest SORRY TO HEAR THAT... MY 1979 OLDSMOBILE DELTA 88 HAS 250,000+ AND STILL GOING... Needs a paint job and new seats and a head liner and leaks a quart of oil every 3 months...BUT WHO CARES...NOT ME!!!
Re: GM and 0% Interest 99 Firebird-Worthless pile. Wish it would get pushed off of a cliff. Oh yeah. No cliffs in Florida. LOL
Re: GM and 0% Interest Yep I know about the lemon law. It ONLY allows for trying to fix the same problem three times and failing. NOT for many different problems from before and after the warranty. I have a stack of service papers about 2 inches thick. Like I said...these aren't oil changes either.
