Help me please! I puleld my credit and GMAC is reporting 3 payments 30 days late and they aren't. Their customer service reps are no help. 5 reps have told me that "Yeh, thats not right" Then they on to say they need to talk to the supervisor. They come back and say the supervisor says he cant do anything about it and is unavailable. I filed request to remove with credit bureua once and this got me no where as well. HELP! This is hurting my credit big time!
I know this sort of stuff can be very frustrating, but you just have to keep on pushing and demanding to speak with someone in charge. If they're reporting incorrectly to the CRAs, the FCRA requires that they correct their mistake. Write them too, provide proof of your on-time payments, demand that they correct their mistakes, and send all your correspondence via CMRRR so you can document your efforts. I'm curious - how did the CRAs respond when you disputed this?
Ok, help me with the lingo here. CRA FCRA CMRRR I have asked to speak with someonein charge and been left on hold for upto 3hours when I finally hung up! Someone would com back repeatedly and say "the supervisor is unavailable" How do yo get to someone?
CRA- Credit Reporting Agency FCRA- Fair Credit Reporting Act CMRRR- Certified Mail Return Receipt Requested If you absolutely can't find a way to get someone to help you via the phone, keep your correspondence in writing and it'll be much less of a headache.
Should I complain to the FCRA? Where would i write to GMAC, to the same address I send my bill or to the "general inquiries" address on their website? These are the only addresses I can find.
The FCRA is a law, so you can't complain to it, but it does provide you with certain rights you need to understand. Google it and do some reading. You've pulled a free credit report recently, right? If so, write to the address that's listed on your credit report for GMAC.
Online discrepency report filed with each of the 3 CRA's. Any idea of how long a response takes? The give yo a very limited space to write, do they typically ask for the documentation you say you have? I guess Im asking if there is some back and forth or do they just send you response saying yeh o neh? Letters to GMAC will be written tonight with all documents attached. Anything else I can do right now?
It's better to write the CRAs directly and avoid the online dispute process, but since you've already done it, I would just await their response. You should hear something from them within 30 days, and they'll likely just tell you if it's been verified or not. Sounds like you're headed in the right direction for now. Please come back and let us know if you have any success with either GMAC or the CRAs. Make sure you send those letters CMRRR so you know exactly when they're received and can then follow up.
Well, I heard back from 2 CRA's already who just said "confirmed", hey changed nothing. Thats totally stupid. I get abot 100 characters to explain it. I thought they would ask me to send my proof of payment and documentation that what Im stating is true. They say I can call them, do I booth or send the letters with copies of all documentation?
It's always better to send letters to the CRAs and include your documentation. Also, the CRAs are just verifying what the OC is reporting, so you're going to have better luck in this situation if you can get the OC to clear up this mess they've made in the first place.
