I recently read "the millionaire next door" and "rich dad, poor dad". I just had to say they changed my life - definitely recommended reading. It didn't make me rich, it didn't fix the messes in my life, but it changed my perspective and goals. This started because Hedwig and Butch recommended Ric Edelman - who is absolutely brilliant. You are probably wondering why I am posting this out here and I have found that making my thoughts/goals public, i feel forced to stand behind those decisions.

    My mindset:

    1. I am not working for money, i am working to learn and find opportunities.
    2. Acquire appreciating assets, not liabilities or depreciating assets.
    3. Do not eliminate debt but make it work for me.
    4. Learn, learn, learn about everything from entrepreneurship to financial/estate planning.

My primary goals to achieve within 2 years:

    1. Correct credit issues
    2. Start "the business" - don't ask because i won't tell...yet ;)
    3. Buy a new house.

My 10 year goal is to acquire a net worth of $1MM and earn enough each month in my assets to get me out of the "Rat Race" as Robert Kiyosaki calls it. Speaking of which - anyone buy his "Cashflow" game?

What are your goals - financially, personally and professionally?

Right now my goal is to get through the next two years and get my MBA. If I have to do many more all-nighters I may change my mind and decide it's not worth it anymore!

Other than that, I never thought I'd be able to retire. Now I'd like to think that by age 70 I could at least do something less stressful--like watch DVDs all day!
