    Hi there,

I have been reading around here for the last two weeks or so. Thanks to everyone that post such incredible insight! Here is my present situation:
Avg Credit Score from all 3 CRA is 502. Several negative marks, charge offs and lates.

Is it better to send debt disputes to the CRA first or should I send to the CA first. Also, which letter should I use.

Is this a good first step?

    Thanks.

First, opt out with all three CRAs. Then dispute with them first.

Your letter to them should be very simple. Just list the accounts and say "I don't recognize this account" or something like that.

When you DV the CA, keep that simple as well. Just say that you do not recall this debt, and you need proof that it is yours as well as an accounting of how they arrived at the amount they claim you owe.
