I'm trying to draw a picture on how bad my credit actually is:
I know that "excellent" credit means that you pay all of your bills on time everytime. But what are the differences between "blemished/bad/horrible" credit? What are some worst case scenarios?

I have a theory that all bad credit is horrible in the short run. A single late payment last month could ruin your credit card application this month. The big difference is how long it takes to get over different bad credit events. The classic example would be bankruptcy, which sticks to you like a spider web for 10 years. Minor events tend to get forgotten by new creditors after 2 or 3 years. Multiple events also take longer to evaporate than single events. Any takers for this theory?
