I just need to make sure I didn't do the wrong thing.
I'm trying to get rid of one on EQ.
    Here's the listing:

    Plains Commerce Bank
    Date of last Activity: 11/02
    R9 status
    Transferred to Recovery
    Charged off Account.

I sent both a validation letter to Plains and a dispute letter to EQ. Is that being too aggressive?

O.K. It's been a long time since I have been on creditnet but here's the thing:

Plains Commerce Bank is an OC correct? That would mean they do not have to validate unless you live in a state that does not distinguish between an OC and a CA for purposes of debt collection. A handful of states fit this bill. However, they are still responsible for marking the account disputed. I would wait until the investigation with the CRA is complete to see if the OC has marked the account as disputed on your credit report. If they have not this is a violation. Also, you want to make sure that the tradeline is 100% accurate. If it is not then this is also a violation on the part of the Bank as well as the CRA for failure to maintain accurate records. You really need to keep looking at the details. That's where you get the violations.
