I'm looking for a secured card for my wife. She is AU on a few of my accounts, and joint on a few others. The only derog she has is from my old Cap1 account, a 30 day late. She's only AU on this account though. Any recommendations?
Everyone is going to want to jump down my throat for this suggestion, but I would try to get an account with Providian. They gave me an account when noone else did. The interest rate is near usurous, but I have never had any problem with them. They gave me an unsecured account with a below 500 score. Now I have several cards I would not have without that good tradeline. I pay online. Providian's online service is excellent. It is the only one of my credit card online services that allows you to set a date to pay so you do not forget. Everyone else takes the money out that same day. Its good for when you do not want to forget a payment.
