This is my first time actually posting here, but have been reading these boards for a long time.

We have a positive trade line that is only reported to Equifax. As a result, our Equifax score is 638, while our other scores are more in the 580 range. The thing that makes this particular positive trade line so important is that was from 1988. Besides that one, all our other positives are newer (as in around 6 months old). Is there a way to have it added to TU and Exp?

We also have many medical paid collection accounts-I have been following the thread here about a possible angle to use if disputing them-is that viable? I guess I am not clear on how to get rid of those......

I do want to thank you all for such a GREAT site-I can't tell you how much I have picked up already!

As for getting the long time acct reported to the other bureaus, I would simply call the creditor and ask them if they would be kind enough to report your acct to all 3 bureaus. They may have a contract to report with only that one bureau and that could be why it isn't on the others.

Write the OC of the positive trade line and tell them it is not showing up on two of your credit reports and you need it there b/c you are purchasing a home in the near future. Worked for me.

So I call the OC of the positive trade line today, and they tell me that they report to all 3 so it should be on them. I call TU and they say the OC needs to resend to them. Then I call OC when my hubby is home (they need to talk to him since it's his account) and explain to him what we need. Only now he says that the account is so old that Equifax shouldn't even be reporting it. So in other words....they won't do it.
I also had to call another CA to ask why they hadn't deleted their paid collection on my report and had to read them back the letter they had signed agreeing to delete. She said she would have it taken off immediately but I am not holding my breath.

I have been working on this for at least a year....and am tired. It's an uphill battle and I think it's PATHETIC that it seems that all are against you. I feel that we will never get a house :(

Don't give up...That is what the they want you to do. Hang in there, read everything you can get your hands on, and stay positive. I have set a goal for myself now. It is a 18 month goal. I will have all negative info off my reports and have established a positive credit history.

You have the resources here to do it. USE THEM!!!

    Good Luck!!

Send a letter. Something like this:

    Date

    OC's address

    Dear OC

I have noticed that my credit account (acct# 1111-1111) with OC, is NOT showing on my credit reports from TU, EQ, EX. According to Fair Credit Reporting Act, this information needs to be reported. I am also in the process of obtaining a mortgage, and having this information on my credit report is vital to my obtaining a mortgage and house.

I am requesting that you update my credit file with your company and re-report my account to the three major credit reporting agencies, EQ,EX, TU.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions at 444-444-4444 or the address below.

I am also requesting that you notify me in writing when this account has been updated and reported to these agencies.

Thank you very much for your time and help in this matter.

    Sincerely,
    Bob

send it by certified mail, so you know when they get it. Call them 15 days later and see if they made a decision if you haven't heard anything.
