I used Psych Doc's wonderful goodwill letter to try to get some old tradelines (plenty of 60 and 90 day lates) removed. I figured it was worth a shot, since I'm current with them now, and today I got a reponse.

    1. I didn't DISPUTE information reported by Sears. Huh?

    2. I didn't provide them ANY information about the tradelines. Huh??

    3. If this is some sort of validation attempt, how did they "validate"? Huh???

I'm thinkin' of trying a goodwill with PFB. Do you think that will have a better chance than this one did?

    Thanks.

I've sent out several goodwill letters, and haven't had too much luck with them. I've gotten no response on some, and flat out refusals on others. The refusals I did get, however, didn't look like that. They at least acknologed the letter I sent. My guess would be that your goodwill wound up in the office (cubicle) of some low level minimum wage employee who's job it is to enter disputes into the system. They didn't know what to make of it, so they just entered it into the system as a dispute. Sears went through their dispute process and sent you that form letter. I think the people who have good luck with goodwill letters are the ones who send them to a high level employee... rather than to the general mailbox for the company. Of course, finding the correct person to address it to is always a challenge. Unfortunatly, I'm not sure I can be of any help here.

I have heard of people getting good luck with PFB, and I actually tried to send a goodwill through PFB late last week. Obviously I haven't heard anything yet, but I'm hoping for good news. It certainly wouldn't hurt to try to send something through there.

    HTH,

    Wow, excellent reponse. Thanks.

I'll go try PFB right now, then. Maybe you're right, it got to the wrong place instead of the "Goodwill Adjustment" department Psych Doc talked about.

It came from a Columbus, OH P.O. Box. Is the address we sent it to still valid? Hmmm...

    Thanks again.
