Last month I sent out 3 goodwill letters...all DENIED!! Crap! I was hoping they would work. Sent to CapitalOne, Sears, and Providian. I've sent dispute letters to the CRA's on other items, so plan on waiting 60 days to dispute the late pays that the goodwill letters failed on. Sound like a plan?

    -Why wait?

PS- Check your credit report for inquiries by Sears AFTER your account was closed/charged off. THere is a class action against them filed in CA email me and let me know if you want info

My acct w/Sears is still open w/a $0 balance. I sent the goodwill letter because my ex-wife was supposed to pay then when we divorced, she didn't and there is a 120 day past due. I paid it in full as soon as I found out. That was 3 years ago. I just wanted to see if I could get then removed.

Cawitz.maybe you should keep trying. I have heard of others who kept trying different people and eventually it worked. But if any are C. One forget it. They don't budge.

Yeah, don't give up. I had goodwill letters work with Citibank and I think it was FirstUSA that worked to remove 30 and 60 day lates.

how do you know they were denied?

unfortunately, those 3 are the worst as far as the goodwill approach goes. Doc did get it to work for sears, but that was a long time ago. seems like everything worked better back then. ahh...the good ole days, lol. wish i'd have discovered this site back then.

anyhow, there is a thread entitled 'who the goodwill approach works for' or something like that...you might want to search that out and read it before you decide what your next step is.

Question: how are you going to dispute the late pays, when you admitted they were yours in the goodwill letters?

Wouldn't that pretty much negate the "not mine" approach?

-Umm "not mine" has nothing to do with lates OR disputes :)

-The FDCPA/FCRA are protections against collection/reporting activities REGARDLESS OF LIABILITY/OWNERSHIP of the debt :)

"hell yeah its mine, but YOU have to prove it was late"
