yep, and futures are up, though not as much as earlier and rumor is the Feds will cut. We'll see. Poor consumer sentiment going into the holidays?

    Money's still cheap.

If you've got decent credit that is;)

btw, congrats to tracyb on goin' blue.

    cheers,

    Indi

What are the chances BK 'reform' (aka screw the consumer and push em into Chp13) will pass this year?

The cc companies and their baskets of cash got the republicans into control of everything. There is no way in hell they are gonna sit back now and not slam the BK law past. It is amazing what cash and dirty politicians can do.

Per articles in the Washington Post last week and this week, its VERY likely that out of respect for the late Senator Wellstone, a major OPPONENT of this horrible BK bill, they may NOT bring it up AT ALL until the new congress gets in .. and even then there are more things on their plates first.

Cross your fingers everyone, it could be 12-18 months before this scumsucking anti-consumer BK bill gets anywhere !

This is probably a collection companies dream, since so many american's are jobless and there are so many without health insurance that the chance of medical collections is going to go through the roof:( So Thank god for this board because our future is going to need it.
Medical Insurance companies such as Blue Cross/Blue Sheild need to be stopped from making it so unaffordable on top of that. They raise rates higher and higher every year so companies have to pull back on their depth of coverage for their employees and on top of that, they don't pay their damn bills.
I know Oregon was trying to pass a universal health care insurance for the state, I haven't heard if it passed or not but I am hoping it did because then maybe some other states will follow suit.
Like I said God Help Us
Oh and one more thing, thank god I am moving to the Kansas Side of KC where there will be a Woman and a Democrat as Govenor!!!!!!!!!
Okay enough said, I am sure I pissed off a few people with this.

with the republicans in control they will just probably wait until everyone is sworn in and then it will be a slam dunk to go through. I hope everyone is ready to get poorer as the rich get richer. I was a republican until like 3 years ago when I opened my eyes and did not like what I saw.

I liked Giuliani's comment last night, which I believe was originally said by Winston Churchill.

    went something like this:
If you're not a liberal at the age of 20, you don't have heart.
If you're not conservative by the age of 40, you don't have a brain.

I guess I have no heart.

    Well, philosophically, this stinks.

But on the silver lining side, I'm a straight white guy who makes quite a bit of money, will inherit a pile, and got his BK in before that putrid bill, so at least *I* make out.

DNC Chairman Terry McAullife's speech this morning was a reminder to me of how happy I am to be a Republican. This guy is a huge embarrassment to his party and many good people. A sharp contrast to Fritz Mondale's gracious concession speech.

Well, it's off to war now. Mostly, it's sad that so few voted.

    A prediction...

BK reform bill will be quietly passed during the lame duck session and go into law next year. Opponents no longer will have the belly for a fight. The very real respect for Paul Wellstone is no longer in play with Walter Mondale's loss.
