I find it amazing that the left in this country would be thrown into such a panic when Republicans get control of the Senate and House. They fear this huge right wing conservative conspiracy will ruin the country. During the previous administration there was not a Republican outcry that Clinton would ruin the county. Sure there was talk about him corrupting our country on social level and think this has come to pass. This is the problem with our fellow Americans in the Democratic Party. They have so much faith in the Government as long as it is controled by their party. Yet they so wuch little faith in the citizens of this country. This can be seen in the way Democrats have hadled their loss last week. The fact is that Democrats feel that the government is solution for everything. Ever since FDR this party has worked very hard to get this country more depedant on Government with each passing. I am not saying that the Republicans are not completely innocent on the subject, but the Democrats would socialize everything. The Democrats have not come up with an original idea since JKF spoke of tax cuts to boost the economy. Have they come up with a solution for: Social Security? Dem Solution-raise taxes and retirement age. The war on terrorism? Dem Solution-maybe profiling middle aged white guys and grandmas at airports-Thank you Democratic Party for giving us Political Correctness The Economy? Dem Solution-tax cut bad-more taxes good Education? Dem Solution-spend more money for schools that do not work. I am hear saying that I agree wiht every thing the Republicans do. The farm bill, precription drugs among others are programs I do not agree with. They should have also made a stronger effort to give us a school and social security choice. Unlike my friends on the left I do not agree with every move my party makes. The folks on the Left and the majority of Americans need to realize that we need a our Goverment to assist us when need it and not to make us dependent on the people we elect.

I don't need the story, as I suspect I'm a little bit better informed on this issue than you are. The reactors he "gave" them are light water reactors, from which it is difficult to make weapons grade plutonium. They already had nuclear reactors before this deal was made, but they were of a type that could be (and had been) used to make weapons-grade plutonium. Second, the reactors Clinton/Carter "gave" to NK haven't even been built yet. Third, the reactors are actually being built by a consortium led by Japan and South Korea, not the U.S., and the initial push to make the deal came from those two countries. Finally, to reiterate a point I made earlier, North Korea had acquired enough weapons-grade plutonium to build nuclear weapons even before Clinton got into office. But for people of a certain outlook and morality, it feels good to blame Democrats/liberals/whatever for all the world's ills, so you do so in this case, even though you know next to nothing about the topic besides what you heard on Rush Limbaugh or whatever other news "source" you use to collect information. Your original post was clearly an attempt to blame Clinton for NK having nuclear capability. I give you credit for at least having enough common sense to try to run away from an untenable position, but what you said is what you said.
Without a method of delivery to get their weapons over here it doesn't matter what you THINK they had prior to the whatever administration. Actually if you knew your butt from a hole in the ground you'd know that thanx to Clinton these third, (4th and 5th) world Commies now have the "Delivery System" necessary to get their weapons over here, TO YOUR HOUSE BUNTER. The FACT of the matter is Clinton launched their WMD capability AHEAD by 30 years. I understood what Quix meant with no problem.
Bunter, You make a good observation that the new reactors are "light water and makes it more difficult to make weapons grade material". Notice it is only more difficult not impossible to use the material for mafacturing weapons. What you fail to mention is that the agreement the previous adminstration had with the North Koreans included inspections of the new reactors and they agreed to not pursue nuclear weapons. Now we now there were no inspections and our Communist Friends on the Korean Penisula have viable Nuclear Weapons. Now with the help of their Chinese allies to the north the North Koreans will get the technology the genius' at Lorel Aerospace decided to give the Chinese Government in the Mid 90's. Bunter, those of us on the right don't think that liberal democrats are the entire cause for all of society's ills. Just most of it. And unfortunately for them, it is well documented.
