I got a new car today!

I started looking around a month and a half ago for a new car. I was originally going to purchase a 2002 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V, but backed out at the last moment. I had been approved for a 6% loan from a credit union. I had my current car loan through that credit union, and I'm assuming that's why they approved me for another one - I had 28 months of good payment history at $495/month. To get that loan I had to have my dad cosign for me, and when I went to get the recent loan the only thing on my credit report was a charge off and that loan.

Yesterday I went to a Subaru dealership and after some haggling, came up with a pretty acceptable price on a 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX. I had planned on using my credit union for what I thought was an awesome rate. I'm in Indiana and my credit union is in Washington state so we were going to have to mail a lot of stuff back and forth. Well, I was sitting in their finance office today and they told me that I could take the car today if they could pull my credit (as a judge of character? blah, who knows). I objected at first, but I decided having gotten 5 new credit cards and an auto loan in the last 2 months I wasn't going to be applying for anything any time soon and another inquiry wouldn't hurt. I asked them who they pulled and the guy said Trans Union - my best report. He pulled it and told me my score was a 700. The lowest score possible for their 4.74% APR through Chase!

Just 2 months ago when I started this I wasn't sure what I'd have to do to get an auto loan or if I even could get one. Now after some tricks with AU's and after some successful disputes I got the best interest rate possible. Thank you creditnet! Without your help this never would have happened.

I also just got approved for a First USA Kiss (the band) card the other day. I know, I know, FUSA will probably screw me. But having a credit card with a picture of Kiss to show off excites me for some odd reason :p

thanks dogman.. I'm originally from Washington, and I hear they're pretty popular there.. but in Indiana, they aren't that common.

cibomatto - When I started my equifax FICO score was around 605 with one charge off, one collection, and my car loan. My TU report had another collection in addition to those, and it was around 502 (TU score, not FICO) for what that's worth.
