Got a pre-qualified offer in the mail yesterday from Fleet bank. Must have been the 5 time that they have mailed something to me since the beginning of the year. I was a little apprehensive since it was not a pre-approval. I even called the application center to make sure that it was not. She said that I could do the app over the phone with them or do it online. I decided to do it online. Hate having someone tell me that I am not approved. I almost didn't apply because I am still getting that sinking feeling that you get because your gut is telling you that you will not get approved. I did it because it has 8.99% apr, 0% not just for balance transfers, but also for purchases until June 2004. It took 10 secs and BAM!!! $10,000 limit. The most that I have ever in my life been approved for. And to think before I started on Creditnet, I was in the low 500s on everything. Thanks again creditnetters.
Do you know which CB they pulled? Also, did you have any derogs on your file? How many inq in the last 6 months? Thanks
I do have some very old derogs that are about to drop off on all reports. I don't know who they pulled yet though.

They usually pull TU and sometimes EXP. Their pre-approved or invitational mail are real. They approve you with the same terms on the invitation. I received one of those plat invitation back in Oct and was approved for 3.5k at 9.9% and 0% for nine months. I also received another invitation last month and was approved for 2.5k only and at 7.9% and 0 intr for 9 months
I believed they pulled TU if I can remember correctly. I have read from other posts that a Fleet preapproval is as good as gold.
Hi suedan, Congratulations for your Fleet approval, but here is some caution.... Fleet explicitly states that you agree to be bound by the laws of the state of Rhode Island, and RI has a SOL of 10 years, the longest of all states in US and is one of the most unfriendly states to the consumer. It's consumer protection laws are toothless .... (Disclaimer: This is my personal opinion, and I'm not a lawyer) Just make sure that you never get on the wrong side of Fleet on this card ever in the future. In our household, whenever we (DW and I) receive any preapprovals from Fleet, they go straight to the trash bin.
Great advice. I remember when Fleet was accused of being predatory mortgage lenders and sued by the federal government here in Georgia. I can't believe they're still in business after paying back that huge settlement to all their victims.
