A week ago, I applied for and got instant approval for a Bloomingdale's charge card. I applied directly at the local store. I filled out the brief ( and I mean brief ) application and presented my Driver's license and my Macy's card for reference at the request of the sales clerk.

I then used the Bloomingdale's courtesy phone to find out that my limit was set at $1,000.

The whole process took under ten minutes.

    SIDE ISSUES:

    1. Macy's is a sister company of Bloomingdale. The same parent company owns both. I have had a Macy's card since the 80's.

    2. I found out yesterday that Bloomingdales did a "hard inquiry" on Equifax. Also, Macy's did a soft inquiry on Equifax. Both were done the day I was approved. Equifax is my worst report as a BK and 2 discharged BK credit card accounts from 3 years ago are showing along with 30 open and closed good accounts.

Have any of you Bloomingdale's charge customers experienced any reporting problems? As in not showing credit limits etc.

    Best regards,

    Jim

    Well, Congratulations!!!!

You're my inspiration Jim. Having had to file was really hard for me, but seeing your progress makes me have some hope for the future. I absolutely HATE being turned down!!!

I can't believe in 3 months it will already be a whole year since I filed! Man time flies when all you do is check out credit boards and work on those reports.

It makes me want to try to get approved for ~something~, actually ANYTHING, but I know I have to hold out and build up what I do have already. Patience, little grasshopper!! (But it's sooooo hard!!!) LOL

    Keep up the good work!!!

    Thanks for comments newstdt!!

I am sorry to hear that you had to file BK. I filed in Nov. '98 after a severe back injury. Since you appear to be in the same boat I was in, here are a couple of angles I want to mention to you...

    1. It is important to know what credit lenders are BK friendly. Ford credit and Cap One were obtained by me immediately. Providian will contact you when your credit shows improvement. Nordstrom will give you an account 2 years after the BK if you have rebuilt some credit. Call them - don't apply on-line. They will inform you of the current policy. Check out your credit union for more credit including a secured loan.

    2. On Dec. 1 - I wrote a thread called " Let's talk EQ score and Target visa". I questioned whether the scorepower EQ score is bogus or not. I got some intelligent responses with different opinions.

This is just my opinion, but I suspect that my scorepower number is lower than my real EQ score. It does not make sense that I would receive a $10K Target card and a $1K Bloomingdale card with a scorepower at 677 - 680 (32 Percentile).
