I received a letter today from Asset acceptance on a credit card debt tht i have. i have been doing research on this company and it seems to me like they take a lot of people to court. i want to avoid that if possible, so what do i need to do? This letter just says they can set up affordable monthly plans, but i am sure anything i CAN pay, will not be enough. thats always the case. so which letter do i send them, or do i send them anything? I know there are debt validation letters and also isnt there a letter you can send so they dont contact you again? just wondering so i can get this taken care of and try to avoid going to court over this.

Send a debt validation letter first. It should be simple, something like "please provide validation of this debt." Not one of the letters you see around asking for everything.

In the letter, also say "It is inconvenient for me to receive telephone calls at any time at any place. Please conduct all future business in writing."

You DON'T want to send a full cease and desist (don't contact me again) letter. If you do, they only have one choice--to sue you.

send a letter and ask them to provide validation code of your debt.
