I know I haven't been here for a while, but I wanted to post a recent creditnet success story. Although I've never had any negatives on my history, the advice I have been given here over the course of the last two years have helped me establish an excellent credit history. I was able to finance a 1999 Oldsmobile Alero GLS on my own without a co-signor thanks to my good history. It's loaded with everything, leather, sunroof, and only 18K miles, which I verified for having no odometer fraud with a CarFax report. The car is titled in my name too!!! I didn't even have any issues on the credit part and thanks to my newer good paying job at Staples it was all possible. The salesman was somewhat doubtful that an 18 year old could buy a car on their own credit, but he was reassured when I walked in with the check for my new car! Just wanted to thank everyone for the support and I hope to be around more this summer now that I'm out of college for the year. Thanks again guys!!!

Me too a 2003 Corvette Z06 convertible. well I leased it, 361 per month, for 48 months 3 k down , 15 thousand miles per year. and im gonna drive it up the ford salesmans ass.. who tried to swashbuckle me saying my 671 credit score was not good enough to get a Mustang GT Convertible for the same amount of money .. apparently the GM dealership 2 seconds down the street is a lil more honest. I cant wait till the Ford salesman calls and asks if im ready to make a decision..

Hey sahlegian - I had the same thing happen to me. I went to buy a Ford truck and the finance mgr said it would be at 9% - went down to Cherolet dealer just to get some leverage and walked out with a 2003 Silverado @ 0%! I love my Ford, but to hell with crooked Finance Managers.

Only one problem with your 2003 Corvette Z06 convertible..... It doesn't exist...

    All Z06's are hardtop coupes!

I was alluding to the body style that you guys could picture. Because the 50th anniversary edition is way way way outta my price range. It is just the regular vette convertible.

Unless I'm sorely mistaken, (which is entirely possible regarding vets) the special 50th anniversary addition is a Z06.

Optional: Transparent Lift-Off Roof Panel $800.

MSRP* $55,370.00. Better not try & buy that. I'll come over there and beat you myself.

    LOL

You leased a $55,000 car for $361 a month? Wow. I am surprised, but then again I really don't understand leasing at all. What are the advantages/disadvantages? I am about to get a new car (smallish is price, other car is my $34,000 Expy) and I always wondered about leasing. That $150 a month lease for a Ranger sounds nice. Is that a good deal though, if you can lease a car 4 times as expensive for just over double the cost.

Matty, My curiosity was piqued when I saw your young age and such great credit. So I just looked back at your earlier posts, and you were getting approved for major credit cards in your name before you turned 18. How were you able to do that? All of the apps I've seen, both on-line and paper, require the applicant to be at least 18.

I only ask because I have been adding my child as AU, and thought that was the only way to establish credit for a minor.

My trade in got me 8 thousand dollars... I forgot to add that little tidbit in... it tends to help out a lot..

Remember when your leasing, you only pay for the part of the vehicle you use. and since a vette depreciates much slower that almost every other car you can lease, it actually gets economical to a point. remember i had a huge down payment.. My thing is you only live once, so enjoy it because tomorrow is promised to nobody. and the payment is still really not that bad since i was used to paying 300 per month already. up until december.

Hey, trust me, I am of the same mindset. I just couldn't imagine how you were able to lease a Vette like that for so little. The $8,000 down payment is why, and now makes sense. I was going to say, sign me up for the $361 a month lease on the Vette! :)

    Congrats matty..

I remember back in the day (when I was 18) I went out and bought 1995 Altima, no money down no co-signer no nutin! Ahhh those good credit days...

As far as being under 18 and getting credit cards, it is possible. I had 14 credit cards (none of them had fees) Maybe thats why I don't have any of them and now I am fixing all those charge-offs lol

Max -- you said it's possible. Does that mean the credit card companies don't mind if you're under 18?
